A !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! article has revealed that F1 is going to go to standing restarts in 2015. Feeling pressure to improve the show the teams have started to look for ways to make the racing more exciting. Some of their ideas are horrible such as cars sparking on the ground and artificially enhanced engine noise. However, I think this is a brilliant idea. They've also indicated they're going to relax their penalties for wheel to wheel contact.

Good thing Webber left. He'd have been lucky to be in the points in races with a couple safety cars and standing starts.

How about just lettin' teams build cars without the nutty artificial restrictions that are on them now? And lettin' 'em develop the engines thru the season?

As much as I like standing starts, standing restarts sounds like a horrible idea.

Standing restarts is fine, but you could solve it by just bunching them up. Slow the safety car, wave the green flag after the cars enter the main straight. Why is it that NASCAR is the only series that can give you a decent restart?
As far as the avoidable contact, you pretty much penalize yourself, by taking yourself out or at least have to pit for repairs. A second trip to the pits for a pass through or grid penalty next race when you already retired seems excessive. If you manage to wreck somebody and dont even need to pit yourself, then yeah, make them do a pass through.
